This was our second investigation of the Tudor house in Margate, and we were very happy to be returning as we had such good experiences previously.
The house dates back to the 16th Century -- please see our Thanet Facts page for more of its History. The House has a basement/cellar, which is believed to be the oldest part of the house. Above that, is the first floor which has three rooms. The last of these three lower rooms has got the most beautiful original tudor ceiling. Take the small winding staircase up to the second floor, and you have got three very large rooms. The House was previously set as three separate dwellings, but is now one house.
The Investigation:
We met the Team at the Tudor House, and brought all the equipment in. After doing a risk assessment of the property, we proceeded to set the equipment up and do the baseline testing.
As soon as we entered the House, there were banging noises coming from above us, and that point there was no-one upstairs. All of the Team heard these, and we felt excited about the evening ahead.
We did our lit walk of the House, and decided where we were going to position equipment etc.
We decided to set up the TV monitor in the back room by the stairs as we had done on the previous investigation.
We set up cctv cameras in the first room on the left as you enter, (we call it the pig head room as there is a fake pig head on the table!), as we hadnt fully investigated this room before and felt it was very atmospheric. We also set a camera in the far upstairs room as we had had experienced some activity there previously.
We decided to have Emma and Jacquie upstairs in the large room where the cctv camera was placed, while myself and Sophie were in the pig head room.
While we were investigating these two separate rooms, Adam and Daniel were observing the upstairs room on the monitor.
Both rooms had walkie talkies -- the boys on the monitor could talk to both rooms, but both rooms could not hear what the other was doing or saying. The only way was to ask them to relay what was happening in each room.
Myself and Sophie sat quietly for a while and called out. We saw a flashing light in the far corner of the room which we caught on our camera. We then heard a tapping noise from the window. We tried to illiminate a rattle of the window or cars driving past. The tapping noise continued, and seemed to be in response to questions we were asking.
We used a nightvision camcorder, an EMF meter, and a digital voice recorder.
We then heard large heavy banging from upstairs, and because myself and Sophie were having a quiet vigil, I wasnt very happy that they were making so much noise upstairs --I used the walkie talkie to speak to Adam and Daniel to tell Emma and Jacquie to stop banging upstairs. They told us that they had been constantly watching on the upstairs cctv camera, and that Emma and Jacquie had not moved at all. Also Emma and Jacquie had heard the banging upstairs and had thought it was us!
In the room where myself and Sophie were, there were the dried up fruits and berries from the Christmas open days they held at the Tudor House. After coming out of the room, I discovered that I had a red liquid all ver my hand where I had sat at the table and lent on a plate that was there. We could not figure out where this liquid could have come from, considering that all the fruit on the display was dry.
During our coffee/snack break, we could clearly hear footsteps above us when, as before, there were no Team members upstairs.
We decided to concentrate on the large room at the far end upstairs. Myself, Emma, Jacquie and Sophie ccentred ourselves and all of us sensed a Female energy. we started asking questions, and we heard banging on the floor and footsteps. Again Adam and Daniel were watching us from downstairs where they had the monitor. They had said that as we asked questions, there were huge orbs under the table moving from side to side -- this linked with the feeling that there was something under the table that we felt.
During our question asking, I asked for the Female presence to copy what i did. I was the only one that didn't have gloves on, and tapped my nails on the table and asked for a response. Almost immediately, there was a return of nails tapping on the table from the other end where Sophie was sitting -- we all looked towards Sophie who thought the noise came from somewhere else! Sophie had thick woolly gloves on, and would not have been able to make the sound I did. Also downstairs the boys could see that no-one had moved their hands, and everyone had them on the table where they could see. We thought this was brilliant as we were recording all the way through.
After a very cold and eventful evening, we decided to end the investigation.
We always feel privileged to spend time at the Tudor House, and hope to be able to go back there very soon!
Many thanks to Chris Tull for allowing us into this stunning building and for being so helpful.
