What a welcome investigation after the excesses of Christmas - perfect timing in my eyes!
The Westcoast bar has had many names in the past, the current name was the original name. In days gone by, the bar boasted that it had "the longest bar in europe" no less.
It has been called the Que bar, tramps, and now consists of 3 bars being The Front Bar, The Sugar Lounge, and The Westcoast Bar at the top. Two bars are underground and
at the back are what the owners call "the caves".
The caves used to be part of the old Cobbs Brewery which owned a large area in
previous years. The brewery is long gone now, but evidence remains in the caves
behind the bars, and above by the Northern Belle Tavern.
There is also talk that the caves were used for smuggling which Margate was infamous
for in the past.
I have had personal experiences in the Front Bar on previous occasions.
One time when myself and my Sister were the only people in the whole building, we heard whispering and moaning noises coming from the back where the toilets are now situated. The tap in the gents toilets kept turning itself on aswell.
On entering the Sugar lounge downstairs, we were instantly
getting orbs in pictures the Team were taking.
We did a risk assessment of the area and tried to do baseline tests, but could not get
any regular readings from the EMF and thermometer readings.
Melanie, Ian and myself, went into the caves to set a trigger object on one of the tables.
I went to set up the motion detector, and it would not work even though there were new
batteries in it.
My digital camera was doing all sorts of strange electrical things it had never done
before aswell. After trying to sort the motion detector out, I just left it as it was. We
used marbles as trigger objects on talculm powder.
While discussing these battery and electrical disturbances, myself and Melanie heard a woman laugh very clearly. I thought it was someone in the other room, but then
realised that there was a whole bar, and four doors between us and the rest of the Team. Upon telling them, they said they had been sitting quietly talking in the Front bar.
After setting up a table in the Front Bar, we started to do our spiritual protection
prayer.
After the protection, we started the seance, asking out for any Spirit present to come forward. Melanie and myself sensed the spirit of a timid Woman who was quite
reluctant to come forward. Melanie felt that this was because there was another spirit there that the woman was afraid of.
During the seance, Adam was filming with a camcorder, and Emma was taking pictures with a digital camera.
After calling out further, we felt the presence of a Man and myself and Melanie both commented on him being fairly short, and stocky.
He also came across as quite a serious person who meant business. It was at this point that myself, Emma, and lyndze simultaniously felt something touch our leg and arm.
We then asked some more questions and felt that using a glass would be helpful to get some more information. Strangely even with five people on the glass, it hardly moved although
it was vibrating. I then asked for whoever was in the room to make themselves heard --
that is when I heard glass chinking over the back right handside from me. Then we all
heard thumps and bangs and I heard a shuffling by the bar. Lynze then said she could hear glasses chinking again.
After a short break, we then decided that we wanted to continue the investigation in the
caves. After the seance had finished, we captured more orbs as you can see in the pictures below.
We went through the Sugar Lounge to the caves, sensing a total change in atmosphere from
one room to the next. Emma captured this picture on our way in to the caves.
As you can see apart from a very strange light, there are orbs present too.
The temperature had dropped, and Ian told me it had dropped 5 degrees from in the other room. We tried to take EMF readings but they were very erratic, it was like something was moving around -- one second it was there and the next it was gone. As I was walking around
trying to read the EMF, I walked through a whole block of floating mist -- it was very strange.
Please note the strange light on the bottom right of the next picture.
Emma was also experiencing strange electrical problems with her camera in the caves. I
must say that all the equipment worked perfectly well after this investigation. In the top
right of the next picture there is a strange mist, and this was the area where I walked through a block of mist. In this area, the EMF meter was off the scale.
The caves were extremely atmospheric, and I as well as other Team members felt the
presence of spirit in the area.
In the meantime the motion detector had decided to start working again, which gave the
Team a bit of a fright!
We decided to have a seance by the track that used to carry the barrels in, but which was
now a bricked up wall. Picture below.
During the seance, I felt the temperature drop and my hands were freezing. I felt the presence of someone behind me just by the above bricked up area. Melanie sensed this male presence too, and said she felt quite uncomfortable with him, and that he had put his hands on our shoulders. We called out but it seemed the spirits that were present were not prepared to communicate. We decided to call it a night, but continued to take pictures.
Some objects I have ringed and some just speak for themselves.
We all felt that the Westcoast Bar was very atmospheric, and were very pleased with the
results even though what or whoever was in there were quite elusive. Even so, we had a
great night
We feel we captured some interesting pictures, and some of us had personal experiences. These bars have never been investigated before, but we would love to go back
there for another one soon.
Many Thanks to Eli and Heather for allowing us to investigate the bars.
Please feel free to comment on this or anything else on our site.
